In French, Je Suis Belle means "I am Beautiful," but to two new designers on the forefront of the Budapest scene, it is an expression to fit the profile of a young and modern woman. To Dalma Dévényi and Tibi Kiss, Je Suis Belle epitomizes a concept. These three words refer to a woman's sense of Self, her state of Being, and to her Aesthetic. They are designing apparel to fill an ever-growing demand that seeks gracefulness and playfulness as an identity for her femininity, meanwhile reinforcing a sense of self confidence, desire for originality, taste for quality as parts of her everyday lifestyle.
Je Suis Belle was established in 2005 by two young fashion design students who met while attending the Moholy-Nagy University of Applied Arts in Budapest, Hungary, and has been running as a full time business ever since. Their style is geared toward a casual, elegant and playful girl. Drawing from historical trends and reapplying them to fit the lifestyle of today's woman, Dalma & Tibi are re-imagining style as a deconstruction of past stereotypes to create an image that will lead fashion towards a progressive frontier, paying special attention to harmonizing form, style and line. Their clothing is designed for the woman who is self-assured, independent, and proud of her individual image; the woman who values the expression of originality in her day-to-day life.
Je Suis Belle combines pure, quiet elegance with the freedom of playful self confidence. With its signifying fresh and innovative cuts, hemming and tailoring, Je Suis Belle breaks and rearranges cliches to produce apparel of classic originality
The design team has won first place in the 2005 ARC billboard competition in the category of "I Love Hungary," as well as placing first in an international fashion show in Denmark. In 2007, Dalma & Tibi were named the years top young fashion designers in Hungary.
